Parental Leave

All benefits-eligible employees who have had a child through birth, adoption or the placement of a foster child receive six weeks of Paid Parental Leave. This leave can be taken at any time during the first year following a child’s birth, adoption or placement for adoption or foster care. Unless otherwise allowed by law, paid parental leave can be taken as one continuous leave, or it can be taken in two increments. If taken in two increments, each must be no less than two work weeks in length.

As applicable, REI Paid Parental Leave will run concurrently with state, federal or REI leaves. You must be employed at REI and eligible for REI benefits at the time of your child’s birth, adoption or foster placement to be eligible for Paid Parental Leave.

Requesting Paid Parental Leave

Initiate or update requests for Paid Parental Leave through REI Health Guide at 1-800-451-2967 (select Leaves & Disability) or online through The Hartford.
