Not sure which medical plan is right for you? Watch this video to learn about the REI Saver and Choice Medical Plans and find out which plan best meets your health care needs.

This plan is a Consumer-Directed Health Plan (CDHP) administered by Aetna that allows you to:

  • Open a Health Savings Account (HSA). REI will contribute a particular amount per pay period based on your coverage (individual or family). You can also contribute your own money to use toward qualified health care expenses.
  • Pay lower payroll deductions but requires you to meet a higher deductible.

Check out the medical FAQs for answers to frequently asked questions about the REI Saver Medical Plan and for more information about the HSA.

Visit aetna.com/docfind/custom/rei/ to find an in-network provider.

This plan, administered by Aetna, works like a PPO plan in which you:

  • Can choose an in-network provider or facility (better coverage) or go outside the network.
  • Meet a deductible before the plan pays, then pay coinsurance for most services (except in-network preventive care).

Visit aetna.com/docfind/custom/rei/ to find an in-network provider.

The Kaiser medical plans are HMOs.

  • If you live in Washington, California or Colorado, you may enroll in a Kaiser medical plan if you live in a Kaiser service area ZIP code.
  • Kaiser plans restrict where you can receive care. For more information on plan services and costs, visit the Benefits Plan Information and Costs Tool, visit my.kp.org/rei to find a provider or click here to learn more about Kaiser.
  • Call customer service at 1-800-324-9208 or text 773-974-3113 Monday through Friday from 7 AM–6 PM PT / 10 AM–9 PM ET to get your questions answered and understand if this plan is right for you.

Who's it for?
You want to pay less for coverage out of each paycheck and don’t mind the higher deductible. You also want the flexibility to take advantage of the tax savings that come with a Health Savings Account (HSA) and an HSA contribution from REI.
You prefer to pay more out of your paycheck for coverage in exchange for greater peace of mind due to predictable out-of-pocket costs. The Plan comes with a Health Care Flexible Spending Account to help you pay for eligible health care expenses tax-free.
You’re comfortable staying in the Kaiser HMO network and paying more out of your paycheck for coverage. If you need to visit your in-network doctor or get prescriptions, you like that you generally only have to pay copays.

At REI, we believe everyone should have access to affordable, quality health care coverage. As a purpose-driven and values-led business, we have a responsibility to put that belief into action.

The REI Access Plan provides medical access to every REI part-time employee who needs it. See Benefits Eligiblity to find out if you’re eligible for the plan.

REI Access Medical Plan

The REI Access Plan, administered by Aetna, provides comprehensive, employee-only medical coverage. You pay less per paycheck to have medical insurance (known as deductions) but are required to meet a higher deductible when you use health services. This plan also allows you to open a Health Savings Account (HSA). You can contribute your own money to this account to use toward eligible health care expenses.

The REI Access Plan provides comprehensive coverage that includes:

  • Preventive care (e.g., wellness exams, immunizations) and preventive drugs at no cost when provided by an in-network doctor or pharmacy
  • Doctor and specialist visits
  • Mental health benefits
  • Hospitalization and surgery
  • Telehealth visits through Teladoc

Take a look at the Benefits Plan Information and Costs page to see how much you pay each paycheck for the plan and what you pay when you receive care, and check out the medical FAQs for answers to frequently asked questions about the plan and the HSA.

Network Coverage

With the REI Access Plan, you have the option to use in-network and out-of-network providers, however you will pay more if you use out-of-network providers. To find an in-network provider, visit aetna.com/docfind/custom/rei/.

Preventive Care Benefits

Solving health problems is good. Preventing them is better. That’s why you won’t have to pay coinsurance or meet your deductible for preventive care in any of our medical plans if you use an in-network provider. In addition, for medical plans administered by Aetna/Express Scripts, certain preventive drugs will be covered at 100% or will not be subject to the deductible.
