How and When Do I Get Paid?

Disability pay (Short-Term Disability and salary continuation) runs through REI payroll and aligns to the payroll calendar. Lincoln Financial Group coordinates your approved disability pay with REI. Once your disability pay is approved, Lincoln will provide the details regarding your approval to REI.

The timing of your payment will depend on when your claim is approved or extended by Lincoln Financial Group.

To ensure disability pay is issued without delay (if eligible) during an approval leave of absence, you are encouraged to initiate this process 30 days prior to the start of your time away from work by completing the step-by-step guide for Requesting a Leave of Absence and Responsibilities During LOA.

Example of Pay While on Leave:

Joe needs to go out for a medical leave of absence from the 1st to the 27th. Joe notifies Lincoln of his need to be out on leave the day before he is scheduled to be out. Joe completes his portion of the paperwork and Lincoln receives medical records to approve his leave and claim on the 9th. Since this is after the payroll cut off for the 12th, but before the cut off of the 26th, Joe will receive disability pay on the 26th pay date.

To ensure you are paid timely:

  • When possible, request your leave of absence at least 30 days in advance to allow for the time for both you and your provider to complete any necessary paperwork, and if needed file a claim for your state disability pay.
  • Return any requested forms in a timely manner and follow up with your treating provider to make sure they have completed their portion of the leave documents. You can view the forms that need to be completed on My Lincoln Portal under the View Status > Correspondence tab.
  • While on a leave of absence, your timesheet should be updated with the “Leave of Absence” unpaid time code, unless you are applying vacation time to an unpaid leave of absence. The “Regular” time code should not be submitted while on any paid or unpaid leave.
